Hello World

Hi everyone,

Since we have NO idea what to post on, we decided we would tell you information on how the world started. Please note that some of the information that we give may not be true because we didn't live back in 0001 when the world started.

How people thought the world began
*Most scientists think that there was a "big bang". Then everything came to life from that bang. Do you think that is how the world was created?

*Some people believe that G-d created the world. Many religious Jewish people would believe that. Do you think that is how the world was created?

*And others, think that the world, planets and our universe was all made up from metal, dust, dirt and sand. Do you think that is how the world was created?

*You think about how our world was created.. Maybe you would think of something we wouldn't even imaging that happened!

If we didn't have our galaxy, we wouldn't be here, and we wouldn't be typing this right now. Thanks to whoever or whatever created the whole universe, we are now here. We should say thank you to what we are given. Earth is the planet that Human beings live in. Without Earth, no human would be existing right now! If we didn't have our sun, how were we meant to have day, light and the Earth hot? Without the moon, how would there be light and dark, and time to sleep? Some information is absolutely impossible to discover, but some information can be discovered.

If you would like to learn more about our universe, planets, galaxies, and more, search up on google anything you would like to know!

Thanks for reading,

Shiri and Tanna ;-)

Star gazing

Hi everyone.

If you would like to see some stars in the night, here is some information and tips on what to do or what you should do when you are star gazing.

Each night, many people love to look at stars in the sky. Star gazing is one of the world's most popular activity to do. To begin your star gazing, you need absolutely nothing, except your eyes. If you would like to see stars in an amazing view, try star gazing miles away from light poles, or bright things. Try going somewhere that is very dark so the stars will stand out in the night sky. Let your eyes get used to the dark before you start to star gaze.

Wrapping up tight Trailing stars
On cold nights, wear very Even with a simple
warm clothes such as camera you can take
coats, jumpers, a scarf, pictures of the night
and some gloves. These sky!
clothes will keep your body
warm.
Some people like warm things
A hot chocolate, with a snack or
another drink such as water will
keep you warm and keep the
cold out.

Jot what you saw
Take a notebook and a
pencil and write down what
you saw.

The stars look brightest on clear, cold winter nights. The night sky is full of stars. Just using our eyes, we can see way more stars then what we think we can see. In some places in space, great glowing clouds of gas and dust appear among the stars. These special clouds are named Nebulas.

More information coming soon!

Galaxies

Hi guys!

We thought we would tell you some information on galaxies.

Stars are grouped together in galaxies. There are billions and billions of galaxies in our universe, each containing millions of stars. Our solar system, is a tiny part of the galaxy; the Milky way.

Galaxy shapes

There are the four types of galaxy shapes.

Barred spiral galaxies have a bar across
the bright middle with an arm at each end
of the bar.

Spiral galaxies have a bright middle
with two or more curved arms of stars
spiralling out from it.

Elliptical galaxies can be round,
oval, like the one shown here, or
even sausage shaped! Irregular galaxies, such as this one, are often formed when one galaxy crashes into another.

Our galaxy

Because our planet is located in the milky way, we cannot see from the outside and it is very difficult to tell exactly what shape the milky way galaxy is. But most astronomers think that it is spiral shaped. Compared to many other galaxies, the milky way is pretty big. It is about 100,00 light years across and it contains more than 2 thousand trillion stars.

More information coming soon to this post!

Monday 17 October 2011

Hi guys!

Since we don't know what to post until we finish our first book, we decided we'd tell you a little bit of history from making our blog.

How did we get the idea of making a blog?
Well, we got the idea from our book, but we got the idea on making a book from Linda Chapman's series; Stardust. We would like to thank Linda Chapman for bringing up such a great idea of a book, and if you wouldn't have wrote it, we wouldn't be writing on this website right now. So thank you!

How did you start forming your book?
We started to form our book by starting off looking at Linda Chapman's "Lucy's magic Journal". We decided to make it like a recount, so it is actually true, and not fantasy. Then we decided we would tell in the book some facts and figures of Astronomy, Stardust Spirits, and more. Soon we had the most delightful book and soon will be on this website to read!

How did you start forming your blog?
Well, again, if we didn't have our book, we wouldn't have a blog. Firstly, we didn't know a website that could make blogs! So then, we searched up some websites of Astronomy, and found one from the creators of Gmail; Blogger! We were so excited and started straight away! We named our blog Believe in Stardust! With the link: believestardust.blogspot.com
Soon, loads and loads of people viewed it, and now it's one of the tops sites on Astronomy! We succeeded a lot!

How are you happy about everything that's going on now?
We are extremely happy, and would like to add more stuff for kids, and even adults. A whole heap of games is set up on a page, and loads of fun activity sheets for you to complete and send to us! We are really proud and happy of what we achieved and created.

Thank you!

Black Holes

Hi guys!

We've posted this on our blog a couple of months ago, but there is one thing from the book that has made us really interested on putting it up for you!
Since we wrote that we will teach you guys about black holes, it was about time we did.
Please note that some of the information on black holes will be in read font because the information was from the book by Steven Hawking; George's secret key to the universe.

What is a black hole? A black hole is a large black hole that it's gravity is so strong that anything that tries to get out of a black hole gets dragged back. A black hole, is like a dead end on the streets. If you got sucked up into a black hole, you can't come back out from the same way you came in.

The edge of a black hole is called a "Horizon". This is like the edge of a waterfall. If you are above the edge, you can get away if you paddle fast enough, but once you pass the edge, you're doomed.

When more and more things get sucked up into a black hole, the black hole gets bigger, and stronger.

How is a black hole made? One way that a black hole starts, is when a dead planet explodes. This is formed, because inside planets actually make new planets with their fuel. But once that fuel has run out to make new planets, the planet creating the new planets explodes of nitrogen, and black holes are formed.

Can you see a black hole? Generally, you can't, because no light can get out of a black hole. But you can detect a black hole, because you notice that things from space are getting sucked up by a U.F.O.

Normally, we can see a large black disc sucking up something, but that barely happens, because once again, no light can get out of a black hole.

Falling into a black hole You can fall into a black hole, just as you can fall into the sun. If you fall feet first, your feet will be nearer to the black hole then your head and will be pulled harder by the gravity of the black hole. So you will be stretched out length wise and squashed in sideways. The stretching and squeezing is weaker the bigger the black hole is. If you fall into a black hole made by a star only a few times the size of our sun, you will be torn apart and made into spaghetti before you can even reach the black hole.

If you fall into a much bigger black hole, you will pass the horizon - the edge of a black hole and the point of no return - without noticing anything particular.

Getting out of a black hole Technically, people believe that when you get sucked into a black hole, there is no way out. But then it was discovered that this picture wasn't quite right. Tiny fluctuations in space and time meant that black holes couldn't be the perfect traps they were once thought; instead they would slowly leak particles in the form of Hawking Radiation. The rate of leakage is slower the bigger the black hole is.

The Hawking Radiation would cause black holes to gradually evaporate. The rate of evaporation will be very slow at first, but it will speed up as the black hole gets smaller.

So you see, that you can get out of a black hole. After billions of years, the black hole won't be in prison. When it leaks particles out, they are actually pieces of something or someone that has been sucked into a black hole. If you take out every single particle the black hole has sucked, you can maybe form someone or something that has been sucked into a black hole.

Thank you for reading!

The Oasis

Hi guys!

Have you ever been to the Oasis before? Well, if you don't know what we are talking about, here is a brief information report of the Oasis. (Forest)

Where is the Oasis located? The Oasis is located in Manwaring Ave, at the end of the street. The Oasis has two pathways; one leads to a park, and the other leads to a swamp, or a giant park where dogs usually play in.

What creatures live in the Oasis?
We don't know any specific creatures, but we'll just tell you what we know and think what creatures live in it. Snakes, lots of them, Spiders, gazillions of them, bugs, crickets, frogs, beetles, ants, owls, flies and mosquitoes etc.

If you would like to see or hear more, we will post the story of us visiting the Oasis on our blog, or tell you more about the Oasis in the future.

Thank you!

The Tree of life

Hi guys!

We've already told you that we are about to finish our book, but it won't be available in public. Since we have so much things to post, but we want to post them closer to the end of the year, we are going to tell you a part of an adventure from our new upcoming book!

How exciting! This adventure is called "A sweet treat". We decided that we will tell you one part of the adventure. We went to a shop called "The tree of life".
The tree of life is a shop that has Gemstones/Birthstones, clothes and other things.

When we went inside the shop, Tanna's brothers (Denin and Shannon) got a 50 gem-in-a-bag for $6. Tanna got an Amethyst gemstone tree, Shiri's sister also got the Gembag, and Shiri got nothing.

Shiri and Tanna wanted a very old-fashioned looking treasure chest with very precious gemstones in it for $17, but it was too expensive so we had to let it go. The picture on the left isn't the real thing. The real box is very small and isn't as over flowed as this picture is.

We hope that when we post the book onto our blog, you will enjoy reading it and comment on it!

Good luck!

Shiri and Tanna

P.S If you would like to go to the shop, copy and paste this link:

Poem

I Believe

I believe in stardust

And moonbeams all aglow,
I believe there's magic
And more there than we know!

I believe in reaching out
And touching from the heart,
I believe that when we touch
A gift we can impart.

I believe that if you dance
The dances of your heart,
That greater happiness will find
A brand new way to start!

New book

Hi everybody!

Shiri and Tanna are so excited! We are just about to finish our first book in the series. Please note that this book will not be available in public. It's called Stardust - Magic by believing. We'll let you take a sneak peak of what's inside when we finish it.

This book has information on stars, stardust spirits (shh it's a secret!) and more! After the information, the rest of the book will have recounts of what adventures we had, and at the end of each adventure, there are some pictures! Between each adventure, there is information. At the end of the book, there are acknowledgements, and about the authors.

There are 8 books in our series, and the first book is nearly to it's finish line!

Shiri and Tanna

P.S When we finish writing the first book, a page will appear next to the games where the first book will be. Then the second on a different page, and so on.

The four royal stars

Hi guys!
Now, your probably thinking that the royal stars are, Fomalhaut, Regulus, Aldebaran, and Antares. Well, these aren't exactly what we're trying to say. Once in 40 - 80 years, there are four stars, and one of them is Venus, that form one row.

We can't exactly find a picture of it because it only happens once in a long time. From 5am - 7am you can see the most beautiful thing you have ever imagined....
It is really good to view these four stars in the observatory. If you still don't get what we're saying, go onto:

www.sydneyobservatory.com.au

and search up "Four royal stars"

Star constellation disc

Hi guys!
On Wednesday, we had our Year 6 fete. There was food, and lots of games and activities. Just before the fete started, Eirini, our friend, walked up to us and said "Remember the star disc I was telling you guys about?" And then we both nodded. Eirini dug deep in her bag and took out a circular disc of the star contellations. Shiri and Tanna took the disc, and everyone crowded to look at it. We looked at all the star constellations in the sky, and then told Eirini it was fantastic. "I got it from the Observatory hotel". She says. "I don't know exactly where".

What is a star disc?

A star disc is a circular object that you can turn around. On the edges of the circle there are times such as 4:00. What you do, is you drag the circle inside the circle to any time, to see what constellation comes up at what time. Here is a picture of how it looks like, just incase you are confused. We made the picture big so you can see where you drag the circle to. It is very useful when you are trying to view the stars. It is kind of like a map, but in a different type; e.g The disc has two sides. One side is the southern hemisphere constellations, so if you live in Australia, for example, you are below the equator. On the other side of the disc is the northern hemisphere constellations, so if you live in the United States, for example, you are above the equator. Different sides of earth see different constellations, but if you view constellations from a telescope you may see them; especially in the observatory.

Why is it so useful?

They are useful, because they help you see star constellations in the sky, and it shows you nearly all the constellation in the sky. Also, if you are bored, you can enjoy yourself with it. If you are in sleepovers, it's good to sneak outside with your star constellation disc and take a peak at the stars. But make sure there are no clouds!

Maybe you could buy a star disc! Enjoy!
