The Tree of life

Hi guys!

We've already told you that we are about to finish our book, but it won't be available in public. Since we have so much things to post, but we want to post them closer to the end of the year, we are going to tell you a part of an adventure from our new upcoming book!

How exciting! This adventure is called "A sweet treat". We decided that we will tell you one part of the adventure. We went to a shop called "The tree of life".
The tree of life is a shop that has Gemstones/Birthstones, clothes and other things.

When we went inside the shop, Tanna's brothers (Denin and Shannon) got a 50 gem-in-a-bag for $6. Tanna got an Amethyst gemstone tree, Shiri's sister also got the Gembag, and Shiri got nothing.

Shiri and Tanna wanted a very old-fashioned looking treasure chest with very precious gemstones in it for $17, but it was too expensive so we had to let it go. The picture on the left isn't the real thing. The real box is very small and isn't as over flowed as this picture is.

We hope that when we post the book onto our blog, you will enjoy reading it and comment on it!

Good luck!

Shiri and Tanna

P.S If you would like to go to the shop, copy and paste this link:

Poem

I Believe

I believe in stardust

And moonbeams all aglow,
I believe there's magic
And more there than we know!

I believe in reaching out
And touching from the heart,
I believe that when we touch
A gift we can impart.

I believe that if you dance
The dances of your heart,
That greater happiness will find
A brand new way to start!

New book

Hi everybody!

Shiri and Tanna are so excited! We are just about to finish our first book in the series. Please note that this book will not be available in public. It's called Stardust - Magic by believing. We'll let you take a sneak peak of what's inside when we finish it.

This book has information on stars, stardust spirits (shh it's a secret!) and more! After the information, the rest of the book will have recounts of what adventures we had, and at the end of each adventure, there are some pictures! Between each adventure, there is information. At the end of the book, there are acknowledgements, and about the authors.

There are 8 books in our series, and the first book is nearly to it's finish line!

Shiri and Tanna

P.S When we finish writing the first book, a page will appear next to the games where the first book will be. Then the second on a different page, and so on.

The four royal stars

Hi guys!
Now, your probably thinking that the royal stars are, Fomalhaut, Regulus, Aldebaran, and Antares. Well, these aren't exactly what we're trying to say. Once in 40 - 80 years, there are four stars, and one of them is Venus, that form one row.

We can't exactly find a picture of it because it only happens once in a long time. From 5am - 7am you can see the most beautiful thing you have ever imagined....
It is really good to view these four stars in the observatory. If you still don't get what we're saying, go onto:

and search up "Four royal stars"

Star constellation disc

Hi guys!
On Wednesday, we had our Year 6 fete. There was food, and lots of games and activities. Just before the fete started, Eirini, our friend, walked up to us and said "Remember the star disc I was telling you guys about?" And then we both nodded. Eirini dug deep in her bag and took out a circular disc of the star contellations. Shiri and Tanna took the disc, and everyone crowded to look at it. We looked at all the star constellations in the sky, and then told Eirini it was fantastic. "I got it from the Observatory hotel". She says. "I don't know exactly where".

What is a star disc?

A star disc is a circular object that you can turn around. On the edges of the circle there are times such as 4:00. What you do, is you drag the circle inside the circle to any time, to see what constellation comes up at what time. Here is a picture of how it looks like, just incase you are confused. We made the picture big so you can see where you drag the circle to. It is very useful when you are trying to view the stars. It is kind of like a map, but in a different type; e.g The disc has two sides. One side is the southern hemisphere constellations, so if you live in Australia, for example, you are below the equator. On the other side of the disc is the northern hemisphere constellations, so if you live in the United States, for example, you are above the equator. Different sides of earth see different constellations, but if you view constellations from a telescope you may see them; especially in the observatory.

Why is it so useful?

They are useful, because they help you see star constellations in the sky, and it shows you nearly all the constellation in the sky. Also, if you are bored, you can enjoy yourself with it. If you are in sleepovers, it's good to sneak outside with your star constellation disc and take a peak at the stars. But make sure there are no clouds!

Maybe you could buy a star disc! Enjoy!

Planet Kepler ( amazing )

Astronomers have found a Saturn sized planet circling two suns! There is an article about it in the newspaper that was selling on the 16th of September so read all about it if you can get your hands on one. If you can't, were going to post it on our blog anyway.

Here come the suns - astronomers find saturn-size planet

Nicky Phillips
Science

On the fabled star wars planet Tatoonie, Luke Skywalker could watch two suns set on the horison. Today, astronomers report the first direct evidence of a planet revolving around two stars, proving the phenomenon is not just science fiction.
The planet known as Kepler 16b, is about the same size as Saturn, and circles its stars in 229 days.
The two stars, the larger, an orange dwarf and the smaller, a red dwarf, are both smaller and cooler then our sun and orbit each other in 35 days.

A planetary astronomer, Simon O' Toole, said as about half of all stars came in pairs, scientists had a suspicion planets could form around binary stars.

"But this is the first time we've seen it," Dr O' Toole, from the Australian Astronomical Observatory, said.

A binary star system is formed in the same way a single star does, at the center of a big cloud of gas and dust.

"When you have two stars forming close together you have a big cloud of gas and dust and gravity pulls this into a disc of material which orbits both stars," Dr O' Toole said.

"If there is enough gas and dust left over you can get a planet."
For the three celestial bodies to form a stable system, and not collapse into each other, they have to be orbiting the stars at the right distance from each other.

A planet needed to be orbiting the stars at a distance four times greater than the separation between the two stars to be stable, he said.

The discovery of the circumbinary planet was made by a large group of international researchers, led by the SETI Institute astrophysicist, Laurance Doyle, using NASA's Kepler space telescope.

The telescope monitors the brightness of more than 150,000 stars within the northern hemisphere constellations Cygnus and Lyra.
The findings are published in the journal Science.

Remember, this is not our words, only a fantastic article from The Sydney Morning Herald written by Nicky Phillips, who writes science articles.

The Sky's The Limit

Hi guys!
We've just made a movie trailer about stars and planets. We hope you like it and comment on it. This movie is about Shiri and Tanna exploring the universe! Here it is! It will come out on boxing day next year (2012).

This is a movie trailer but will not be showing in real theaters. The background music is not important, so if you cant hear it, it's not a huge problem.
